Strojna oprema, razvita za OSMC
Srce naprave predstavlja prilagojeni Amlogic S905X4-OSMC s štirimi 64-bitnimi jedri ARM Cortex-A55 s frekvenco do 2 GHz.
Za grafični del skrbi ARM Mali-G31, naprava pa ima 4 GB LPDDR4 pomnilnika in 32 GB eMMC notranjega pomnilnika.

Dolby Vision FEL
Pomembna nadgradnja je prišla maja 2026, ko je OSMC podporo za Dolby Vision FEL – Full Enhancement Layer vključil v običajne sistemske posodobitve za vse uporabnike Vero V.

Slika je samo polovica kakovostnega domačega kina.
Vero V podpira do 7.1-kanalni LPCM pri frekvenci do 192 kHz in bit-perfect passthrough pomembnih HD-avdio formatov.

Predvajalnik lahko zato ob začetku filma televizor preklopi na frekvenco, ki ustreza izvirni vsebini, namesto da bi film prisilno predvajal pri na primer 50 ali 60 Hz.
Rezultat je bolj naravno gibanje in manj neželenega preskakovanja oziroma tako imenovanega judderja.
Gigabit Ethernet – pomembna prednost pri uporabi NAS strežnika
Na varnaPot.si je ena izmed lastnosti Vero V, ki jo posebej cenimo, Gigabit Ethernet.
Pri običajnih internetnih pretočnih vsebinah lahko Wi-Fi brez težav zadostuje. Pri velikih UHD Blu-ray kopijah oziroma remux datotekah pa je lahko situacija drugačna.
Takšne datoteke imajo lahko zelo visoke trenutne bitne hitrosti, zato je stabilna žična omrežna povezava smiselna izbira.
Za stacionarno domačo kino postavitev zato priporočamo:

What is OSMC Vero V?
Vero V is the flagship media player of the OSMC project. A distinctive feature of the device is that the hardware and operating system are developed by the same team.
This is an important difference compared with the many generic TV boxes where a manufacturer uses a standard hardware platform and installs Android or another software environment on top of it.
Vero V was designed from the outset primarily for one task: high-quality, stable and long-term supported playback of multimedia content.

OSMC and Kodi – they are not the same thing
With Vero V it is important to understand the difference between Kodi and OSMC.
Kodi is an application or software package for a media centre.
OSMC, on the other hand, is the complete operating system that uses Kodi as its main user interface.
OSMC is based on Debian GNU/Linux and also takes care of:
- hardware management,
- network connections,
- system resource management,
- remote controls,
- system updates,
- installation of additional applications,
- background services, and
- integration of Kodi with Vero V hardware.
For a normal user, all of this remains hidden. The device can be operated entirely with the remote control.
More advanced users, however, have access to practically the full Debian environment, SSH access and a large collection of software packages.
This means that Vero V is simultaneously a very simple television media player and a surprisingly capable Linux system.
Hardware developed for OSMC
At the heart of the device is a customised Amlogic S905X4-OSMC with four 64-bit ARM Cortex-A55 cores running at up to 2 GHz.
Graphics are handled by the ARM Mali-G31, while the device includes 4 GB of LPDDR4 memory and 32 GB of internal eMMC storage.

4K video, AV1, HEVC and VP9
With a media player, raw processor performance is not the most important specification. Dedicated hardware support for decoding video formats is considerably more important.

For Dolby Vision, OSMC uses display-led, or TV-led, Dolby Vision. This means that the final mapping of the image to the display’s capabilities is performed by the television, which knows the characteristics of its own panel best.
OSMC supports Dolby Vision CMv2.9 and CMv4.0 as well as various Dolby Vision profiles, including the commonly used Profile 7 and Profile 8.1.
Dolby Vision FEL
An important upgrade arrived in May 2026, when OSMC included support for Dolby Vision FEL – Full Enhancement Layer in the standard system updates for all Vero V users.
FEL is particularly important for high-quality Dolby Vision releases, where the additional video layer contains data that can be used to reconstruct the original image more accurately.
To use the latest support, it is of course important that Vero V is updated to the current version of OSMC.
The final Dolby Vision playback result also depends on the television or projector and its support for the individual Dolby Vision modes.
Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and HD audio
The picture is only half of a high-quality home cinema experience.
Vero V supports up to 7.1-channel LPCM at up to 192 kHz and bit-perfect passthrough of important HD-audio formats.
These include:
- Dolby TrueHD,
- Dolby Atmos,
- DTS-HD Master Audio, and
- DTS:X.
In a correctly configured system, Vero V does not unnecessarily decode the original audio signal, but passes it via HDMI to an AV receiver or another audio processor.
The AV receiver therefore receives the original bitstream and performs the decoding of the format it was designed to handle.

If a modern AV receiver supports the 4K and HDR standards being used, this type of connection is often the best choice because the receiver gets the HD-audio signal directly from Vero V.
Correct refresh rate – a detail that matters greatly for movies
A good media player is not simply a device capable of displaying a 4K image. It is also important that it sends that image to the television at the correct frequency.
A large proportion of film content uses approximately 23.976 or 24 frames per second.
Vero V supports dynamic display refresh-rate switching, including correct 23.976/24p playback.
When a movie starts, the player can therefore switch the television to a frequency that matches the original content instead of forcing the movie to play at, for example, 50 or 60 Hz.
The result is more natural motion and less unwanted stutter, or so-called judder.
Gigabit Ethernet – an important advantage when using a NAS server
At varnaPot.si, one of the Vero V features we particularly appreciate is Gigabit Ethernet.
For ordinary Internet streaming content, Wi-Fi can easily be sufficient. With large UHD Blu-ray copies or remux files, however, the situation can be different.
Such files can have very high instantaneous bitrates, so a stable wired network connection is a sensible choice.
For a permanently installed home cinema system we therefore recommend:
NAS → Gigabit network → Vero V → HDMI → AVR / TV
Vero V also has integrated 802.11ac Wi-Fi, so a network cable is not mandatory. Where cabling is available, however, Gigabit Ethernet remains the most predictable solution.
NAS, SMB and NFS
Vero V is very well suited for use with Synology, QNAP, TrueNAS, Linux servers, Windows file servers and other network storage systems.
It can access media files through network protocols such as SMB and NFS.
OSMC allows both simple access directly from Kodi and more advanced system-level methods for mounting network shares.

USB 3.0, microSD and additional storage
A NAS is not required to use Vero V.
You can connect a USB drive or USB SSD directly to the device, or use a microSD card.
The external USB 3.0 port provides up to 0.9 A of output current, which allows many portable drives to be used even without an additional power supply, provided the drive’s power consumption does not exceed the capacity of the port.
Also available are:
- USB 2.0,
- a microSD slot,
- optical SPDIF audio output,
- 3.5 mm analogue audio output,
- Bluetooth 4.0,
- an integrated IR receiver, and
- an integrated RF receiver for the OSMC remote control.
HDMI 2.1 and HDMI-CEC
Vero V has an HDMI 2.1 output and supports HDMI-CEC.
CEC enables communication between devices over the HDMI connection, so on many televisions Vero V can also be controlled with the television’s remote control.
In an appropriately configured system, CEC can also participate in turning the television or AV receiver on and off.
The package nevertheless includes a dedicated OSMC RF remote control, so a direct line of sight between the remote and the device is not required during normal use.
A simple user interface with real Linux underneath
One of OSMC’s biggest strengths is that the simple television user interface hides a very capable system underneath.
OSMC is based on Debian Linux.
In addition to Kodi add-ons, users therefore have access to Debian software packages and the command line.
Through SSH, an advanced user can manage network mounts, permissions, system services, scripts, automation and other Linux functionality.
My OSMC and App Store
For a normal user, the command line is not required.
OSMC includes My OSMC, which allows system settings, updates and additional applications to be managed with the remote control.
Applications installed through the OSMC App Store are also included in OSMC’s update system.
Regular system updates
OSMC actively develops its software, and Vero V receives new features, improvements and security fixes through updates.
Dolby Vision is a good example: TV-led Dolby Vision was officially added in 2025, and in May 2026 Dolby Vision FEL support was also included in the standard system release.
OSMC states that Vero V receives five years of guaranteed software updates.
OSMC is also available in Slovenian
For local users, another feature is important: OSMC and Kodi can also be used in the Slovenian language.

A Slovenian user interface is particularly welcome in a family environment where the player is not used only by a technically experienced user.
The purpose of a good home media system is not to require the user to understand Linux, network protocols or audio-video standards. Once the system has been configured correctly, everyday operation should be simple.
A large Kodi library instead of browsing files
Vero V can be used as a simple file player, but the real advantage of Kodi appears when a media library is created.
Kodi can present films and TV series with:

What is Vero V not?
It is equally important to explain what Vero V is not primarily designed for.
Vero V is not an Android TV or Google TV device and does not have the conventional Google Play ecosystem of television applications.
If the main purpose of the device is exclusively to use commercial streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+ and similar platforms, a certified streaming player or an application built into the television is often a simpler solution.
Support for individual streaming services through Kodi add-ons may depend on DRM, certification and restrictions imposed by the service provider.

Does Vero V support 4K?
Yes. Vero V supports video output up to 4K at 60 Hz and hardware decoding of modern formats such as AV1, HEVC/H.265 and VP9.
